The head of the Central Election Commission discussed electoral reforms with a delegation from the European Parliament
On February 18, Tynchtyk Shainazarov, head of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda, held a meeting with a delegation from the European Parliament representing the interests of Central Asia, led by Giusi Princi.
The message from the CEC specifies that among the participants of the meeting were the ambassador and head of the European Union delegation in the Kyrgyz Republic, Remi Duflo, as well as deputies from Italy, Finland, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria.
The head of the CEC noted Kyrgyzstan's and the commission's readiness for open cooperation with European countries. He reminded about the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 30, 2025, to which international observers have been invited. A total of 778 observers will participate in the election monitoring, including 374 representing OSCE missions.
Shainazarov also reported that the composition of the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the VIII convocation is fully staffed, numbering 90 deputies. During the meeting, mandates were handed to four more deputies.
According to him, the new electoral system promotes gender equality and improves citizens' opportunities to exercise their voting rights, including remote voting. The use of modern technologies significantly reduces the likelihood of violations such as ballot stuffing and "carousel" voting.
Giusi Princi emphasized that the composition of the delegation reflects the high interest of the European Parliament in strengthening relations and developing partnerships with Kyrgyzstan. She noted that the electoral process in the country is perceived as transparent and fair, and expressed interest in the practical aspects of implementing the new electoral system.
