- In his speech, Beknazar Bazaraliev, the First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, announced on February 16, 2026, the start of construction of the Northern Bypass Road in Bishkek, emphasizing its importance for the transport infrastructure. According to him, the new road will be six lanes wide and will include numerous interchanges and bridges.
“The project for the construction of the northern bypass road in Bishkek has already been launched. It will be a six-lane highway with several interchanges and bridge structures. This year we are continuing work on the second phase,” he stated.
Additionally, Bazaraliev announced the start of construction of the Barskoon-Bedel road, which is considered an important transport artery between Kyrgyzstan and China. Active construction work is already underway at the site, including the construction of two major tunnels, and plans are in place to build more than 30 bridges and overpasses.
Speaking about future plans, the First Deputy Minister added that in 2026, intensive work on the development of the road network will continue in the country, and the implementation of new infrastructure projects will begin.
