President Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with the relatives of those who have been detained or convicted in drug-related cases. During this meeting, participants expressed hope for the easing of preventive measures for the detainees, suggesting a transition from detention to house arrest. They also raised the issue of the possibility of reducing sentences for the convicted and changing legislation in a more humanitarian direction.

Sadyr Japarov listened attentively to all the appeals, noting that questions concerning the fate of individuals cannot remain without attention from the authorities. At the same time, he emphasized that drug-related crimes pose a serious threat to public health and the safety of society as a whole.

Relatives of the detainees reported that among the accused there are many young people, although older individuals are also present. They noted that all detainees previously had no criminal history and were detained for the first time, with many of them having only a small amount of prohibited substances in their possession.

The president noted that in some cases he may consider the possibility of pardoning those who have committed a crime for the first time, provided all necessary procedures are followed. For this, relatives should submit an official appeal, which will be reviewed in the established manner.

At the end of the meeting, the president emphasized the importance of enhancing preventive work among youth and improving cooperation between government agencies in combating drug trafficking.

Additionally, he instructed the relevant departments of the Presidential Administration to analyze the current legislation in the field of drug control.
