
During a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, met with Adylbek Kasymaliev, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic. This meeting took place as part of the first session of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council.
“Issues related to borders have historical significance and lay a stable foundation for strengthening friendly ties between our countries. I would like to emphasize that deepening cooperation with Tajikistan remains a priority of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy. In 2025, our states plan to focus on restoring and activating trade, economic, and cultural ties, improving socio-economic conditions in border areas, as well as further developing bilateral relations in all directions,” noted Kasymaliev.
He also reported that last year, the trade volume between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan amounted to $36 million, which is almost a 24-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers added that the leaders of both countries set the task of achieving a trade volume of $500 million and expressed full readiness to meet this goal.
The Prime Minister of Tajikistan, in turn, thanked for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the first session of the Intergovernmental Council for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Rasulzoda noted that developing good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan is an important aspect of Tajikistan's foreign policy.
He also expressed the Tajik side's readiness to implement the set tasks.
Key issues of cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres were discussed during the meeting.
