Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan: the number of unemployed has decreased by 22% over the year

According to the Ministry of Labor, there has been a 22% decrease in the number of unemployed in Kyrgyzstan over the past year.

At a recent meeting of the Ministry of Labor, the First Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration K. Dosmatov shared the successes achieved within the framework of state programs operating in 2025.

The situation in the labor market remains stable: the official unemployment rate is recorded at 1.4%, which is a significant improvement compared to previous years (2.9% in 2021, 2.8% in 2022, 2.9% in 2023, and 1.8% in 2024). Employment services have registered 56.5 thousand unemployed individuals, which is 20% less than in the same period of 2024 (70.6 thousand). Official unemployment status is held by 38.1 thousand people, confirming the 22% decrease in the number of unemployed over the year.

This year, 17.5 thousand citizens have been employed, and 19.8 thousand participants have been engaged in active programs.

Particular attention has been drawn to the "Internship for Youth" project, aimed at developing professional skills and facilitating the employment of young specialists.

Within the framework of this project, which operates in 2024-2025, participants in internships in 30 pilot regions and cities receive monthly salaries, allowing the involvement of 3 thousand young people.

In 2025, 1851 people underwent internships, of which 1332 young specialists managed to find jobs.

Today, these specialists work in public and private institutions, holding various positions such as cashiers, specialists, social worker assistants, nurses, credit specialists, engineers, economists, HR personnel, masseurs, hairdressers, auto electricians, and assistant designers.
