The head of the Central Election Commission called for strict adherence to the law in the repeat elections in district No. 13
In the Nooken district of the Jalal-Abad region, a meeting was held organized by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Tynchtyk Shainazarov. The event was attended by the authorized representative of the president in the region, Tilek Tekebaev, and local leaders of self-government bodies.
During the meeting, Shainazarov emphasized that the upcoming repeat elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, scheduled for March 1, 2026, must be conducted in strict accordance with the current electoral legislation.
He also reminded that during the early elections held on November 30, 2025, modern technologies were used, including identification devices with printers and automatic ballot boxes for counting votes. However, there were instances of illegal use of video cameras at 35 polling stations in district No. 13, which violated the principle of voting secrecy and led to the annulment of the election results.
“Every participant in the electoral process must understand that technical means are effective only when laws and regulations are strictly adhered to. The responsibility lies with each of them,” the CEC chairman emphasized.
Shainazarov called on representatives of local authorities, law enforcement agencies, members of election commissions, and candidates to create all necessary conditions for honest and transparent voting, as well as to ensure the protection of voters' rights and compliance with legislation.
CEC member Akbalyk Jumalieva raised issues regarding the accessibility of polling stations for people with disabilities during the discussion, noting that she checked for ramps and found their absence at some stations in the cities of Mailuu-Suu and Bazar-Korgon.
The meeting participants also addressed issues related to violations of electoral legislation and the voting process.
The authorized representative of the president in the Jalal-Abad region, Tilek Tekebaev, assured that the authorities would not interfere in the election process in district No. 13 but would assist in ensuring the legality of all procedures.
He also urged candidates and their teams to comply with legislative norms and emphasized the need for active explanatory work by local authorities to increase citizen participation in the elections.
