The EAEU emphasizes in its statement that delays at the border are caused by planned border control measures. As a result, there is an increase in the time required to complete border procedures.
According to the EAEU, the measures implemented by the Kazakh authorities are temporary and targeted, aimed at eliminating the illegal circulation of goods, which poses a threat to national security.
Kazakhstan also expressed hope for mutual understanding and continued cooperation to stop illegal activities at the border.
The statement highlights that such measures are strictly an internal matter for the EAEU member states and do not violate the principles of Eurasian integration. The agreement on the establishment of the EAEU provides for the abolition of various types of control in mutual trade between states, except in cases specified in EAEU law. It is important to note that partnerships between countries should be based on adherence to the law, while smuggling undermines the economy and the stability of integration processes,” the document states.
According to information from the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Chui Region, on February 3, 2026, at the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint, police officers, together with the Road Traffic Safety Department, organized lunch for truck drivers.
On that day, more than 300 trucks accumulated at the checkpoint, waiting for document processing to cross the border. In response to the long wait, the police decided to support the drivers by offering them hot meals and a chance to rest.
This approach is aimed at caring for the health and safety of the drivers, as well as maintaining order at the checkpoint, which helps to reduce tension levels and prevent conflicts.
Additionally, the police reminded drivers of the need to comply with traffic rules and safety measures during long stops, which contributes to overall road safety.
