Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic: Development of the Feasibility Study for the construction of the Nizhne-Tarskaya Hydroelectric Power Station and the reconstruction of the Bystrovskaya Hydroelectric Power Station is underway
In continuation of the work on the project, in January 2026, specialists from OJSC "Chakan HPP" and consultants from QingYuan Engineering Consultants Ltd. conducted a field visit to the construction sites of the Lower-Tarskaya and Bystrovskaya HPPs. During this trip, they thoroughly studied the territories, researched the natural and engineering-geological conditions, hydrological characteristics of the area, as well as assessed the terrain and current state of the sites.
To implement these projects, the World Bank provided Kyrgyzstan with an interest-free loan of 43.2 million US dollars with a repayment period of 50 years, including a 10-year grace period, which will significantly ease the financial burden of constructing the Lower-Tarskaya HPP and modernizing the Bystrovskaya HPP.
