According to her, the construction process has been ongoing for about five years, and it is necessary to inform local residents about the timelines and the volume of work completed. This route is crucial for ensuring transportation links between the Ton and Jeti-Oguz districts.
“It would be wonderful if the road is completed before the start of the tourist season. In recent years, we have observed a decrease in the flow of tourists to the southern side of Issyk-Kul, and one of the main reasons for this is the condition of the road,” noted Junushbaeva.
Deputy Minister of Transport Beknazar Bazaraliev reported that work on the Balakchy—Barskoon section began in 2021. He stated that the construction work, carried out by domestic companies, is approximately 50% complete.
“It is expected that the construction will be completed by August 30, 2026. Currently, work is underway on all sections of the road,” added Bazaraliev.
