- During the meeting of the committee on agrarian policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection on February 2, 2026, Deputy Bakyt Tentishev emphasized the need for informational and educational activities aimed at protecting the environment.

He raised a concerning issue regarding the impact of cars without catalytic converters on air pollution levels.

Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Meder Mashiev noted that exhaust gases from vehicles account for 30% of total atmospheric pollution.

According to him, this level was even higher in the past when the capital's vehicle fleet included many outdated models; however, in recent years, there has been an increase in the number of electric vehicles.

The minister added that favorable conditions are being created for electric vehicles, including free parking throughout Bishkek.

The deputy also highlighted the importance of gasification in certain settlements in the Issyk-Ata district.

At this time, a draft resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh regarding the "Environmental situation related to smog" was being considered.
