As part of the study, researchers identified two groups: 20% of the least active participants, categorized as high-risk, and a broader population that includes everyone except the most active group. The results showed that increasing physical activity by 5 minutes a day could prevent up to 6% of deaths among the least active and up to 10% in the broader group.

It was also found that reducing the time spent sitting by 30 minutes a day helps lower the risk of premature death, although the effect was less significant.

The most positive changes were observed in those leading a sedentary lifestyle. Even small physical activities, such as short walks or climbing stairs, had a significant impact on health.

Nevertheless, the recommendations of the World Health Organization remain the same: at least 150 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity per week is necessary.
