Pickpockets Arrested in Bishkek. They Were Stealing Smartphones
In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, employees of the Main Department of Internal Affairs arrested suspects in a series of pickpocketing incidents, according to information provided by the local police press service.
On December 28, 2025, a citizen identified as A.A. reported to the Sverdlovsk District Department of Internal Affairs about a theft that occurred at the Alamedin market. Unknown individuals stole an "iPhone 12 Pro Max" mobile phone from the pocket of her minor daughter and fled the scene.
As a result of this incident, a criminal case was initiated under Article 205 (theft) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During operational investigative activities, law enforcement officers detained a 25-year-old suspect named A.K., who was taken to the police station for further investigation.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the stolen phones were sold at the "Osh-Bazars" market in collaboration with another suspect, 22-year-old A.Z.
Currently, both detainees are in the temporary detention facility of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek.
During searches at the "Besh-Sary" shopping center, more than 20 mobile phones were found and seized. The connection of the detainees to a series of pickpocketing incidents at the markets of the capital has been established.
The investigation is ongoing.
