Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh: There is currently no worthy option for a new anthem.
At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the speaker of the parliament, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, shared the results of the discussion on options for a new anthem. He stated that none of the proposed works met expectations.
“Yesterday at the committee meeting, all options were listened to, and none of them turned out to be satisfactory,” he noted.
The speaker emphasized that the main goal of this initiative is not to replace the existing anthem, but to create a new one that will be understandable and accessible to all citizens — from children to the elderly.
Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu also added that most of the proposed melodies have a march-like character.
“The anthem should sound free. We need to move away from the marching traditions that have remained since the Soviet times,” he stressed.
The speaker reported that the competition for creating a new anthem will continue, and everyone interested will be able to participate. In addition, special prizes for the participants of this competition are planned in collaboration with the president of the country.
