Bishkek City Hall has denied the inaccurate statements made by a member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, which, in its opinion, mislead both the public and the media.
Ulukbek Karybek uulu, a member of the Jogorku Kenesh, requested official data on events planned for 2024-2025 for the Sverdlovsk district. The request also included project documentation, capital construction, social and engineering infrastructure projects, sources of funding, timelines, and a list of approved projects, including for 2026.
In response, the city hall provided all the required information.
At a parliamentary meeting on January 26, 2026, Karybek uulu stated:
“In the new building ‘Ak-Zhar,’ 15,000 people live, and children from three residential areas in this district have to travel to the city for schooling. The official response from the city hall states that a school for 600 places has been built in ‘Ak-Bata,’ and children are supposedly attending it. This looks like a deception, both for the country's leadership and for the deputies and the population.”
It is important to note that the deputy did not specify which educational institutions the children from ‘Ak-Zhar’ attend and how many students are enrolled in the ‘Ak-Bata’ school.
Currently, there is a school with a capacity of 620 places operating in ‘Ak-Bata,’ where 1,735 students are studying in 48 classes. Of these, 260 students (grades 5-6) continue their education in the old building. The educational process is organized in two shifts — the first from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the second from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
Furthermore, ‘Ak-Zhar’ emerged as a result of land seizures, and there are currently no available plots for building new schools in that area. The municipality is actively seeking ways to resolve this issue.
Nevertheless, the question of building a school was discussed on January 23, 2026, at a meeting between Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and residents of ‘Ak-Bata,’ who proposed considering the possibility of constructing a school on land adjacent to the Alamudun district. However, according to current legislation, municipal authorities are not allowed to build facilities outside of Bishkek.
