The Ministry of Economic Development explained where to turn in case of illegal sale of pledged property by pawnshops.
He explained that pawnshops operate differently than banks: they provide short-term loans and do not require a lot of documents, it is enough to provide collateral. At the same time, a contract is concluded between the client and the pawnshops, which clearly outlines the rights and obligations of the parties. The loan is issued only with the client's consent.
However, as noted by the ministry representative, there are often cases in practice where citizens suffer losses. This concerns situations where the pledged property, including cars and jewelry, is sold before the established term expires.
The main reason for such incidents is the lack of information among citizens. By signing the pledge agreement, many of them agree to its terms without realizing all the details, often under pressure from life circumstances.
“Even if the pawnshop sold the property immediately after the main term expired, citizens can contact us at the financial supervision authority, using email or in writing. In such cases, we can take action in accordance with the law and require the pawnshop to return the property,” added Suyorkul Ashimjan uulu.
