In Bishkek, on February 7 at 17:00, audiences will be able to enjoy the ballet "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai" on the stage of the A. Maldybaev Kyrgyz National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
The plot, based on Alexander Pushkin's poem, revolves around the unrequited love of Khan Girey for the Polish woman Maria, who was captured. The fountain in the Bakhchisarai Palace symbolizes the tears of the grieving khan.
The Kyrgyz interpretation of this ballet is an adaptation of the choreography by Rostislav Zakharov, who was a pioneer of the dramatic ballet genre, and was prepared by the People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR Erkin Madeemilova.
