At the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh held on January 22, 2026, the deputies discussed and approved in the first reading a draft law concerning amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Renewable Energy Sources."

During the discussion, Deputy Aisarakan Abdibaeva raised questions about preferences for enterprises in the field of renewable energy (RE), as well as the rules for allocating land plots for the construction of RE facilities and the conditions for implementing relevant projects.

Deputy Kunduzbek Suimanov expressed the opinion that the proposed changes could help partially reduce the energy sector's debt, which currently amounts to 25 billion soms.

Additionally, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova suggested focusing on the development of the electricity sector using solar panels.

The aim of the draft law is to improve regulation in the field of renewable energy sources and to stimulate investments in this area.
