In addition to this, the deputy inquired about the number of operational small hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan and their capacity. This question was answered by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Altynbek Rysbekov, who reported that in 2025, small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 115 to 120 MW were put into operation. As an example, he mentioned the small hydropower plant in Kara-Kul, which has a capacity of 18 MW.
The Deputy Minister also noted that new small hydropower plants are expected to be launched in 2026. At that time, a draft law "On Amendments to the Law on Renewable Energy Sources" was under consideration, which was discussed in the first reading.
