In 2025, small hydropower plants with a total capacity of about 120 MW were put into operation in the KR - Ministry of Energy


During a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on industrial policy, transport, fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction, Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov reported that small hydropower plants with a total capacity of about 120 MW will be put into operation in Kyrgyzstan in 2025.
He noted that the last station launched was the Kara-Kul HPP, which has a capacity of 18 megawatts, and its opening was attended by President Sadyr Japarov.
In addition, small hydropower plants with capacities of 12, 7, 5, and 1.5 megawatts have already been commissioned. As a result, the total capacity of small hydropower plants that will operate in 2025 will exceed 100 megawatts. The Deputy Minister also added that additional small hydropower plants are planned to be commissioned in 2026.

Rysbekov also reported that the state will purchase electricity from small hydropower plants at a fixed price of 4 som 42 tyiyn per 1 kWh for a period of 15 years, after which the tariffs will be reviewed.
