According to the report from the National Statistical Committee, in January 2026, there is a decline in exports in the agricultural and raw material sectors of Kyrgyzstan.

It has been noted that the volume of vegetable and root crop supplies has decreased by 1.6 times, while fruit imports have decreased by 22.1 percent. At the same time, the republic has significantly increased the import of essential products: wheat imports have risen by 2.2 times, sugar by 1.9 times, and flour by 1.7 times.

Thus, the structure of imports has shifted towards energy carriers and essential goods.

The sharp increase in flour imports (by 1.7 times) against the backdrop of declining exports of local products such as milk and vegetables raises concerns regarding food security. Kyrgyzstan effectively exports goods with low added value (such as coal and ore), while importing already processed products.

In the structure of exports, gold ($16.2 million, exported to Switzerland) and coal ($5.3 million, sent to Uzbekistan) traditionally dominate.

According to estimates from the EDB, the growing volume of consumer loans in Kyrgyzstan supports domestic demand for imported food products. At the same time, the government continues efforts to diversify the supply of fuel and lubricants to minimize risks associated with inflationary processes.
