Kyrgyzstan has purchased 'smart' traps to protect fields from dangerous pests
As part of the annual cooperation with the Russian center "VNIIKR," the Department of Chemicalization and Plant Quarantine under the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has acquired 2,220 pheromone traps. These devices are aimed at combating 19 species of the most dangerous quarantine pests that can cause significant damage to agriculture.

Now specialists in Kyrgyzstan can use universal sticky traps that attract almost all harmful insects, as well as specialized baits for pests such as the black pine weevil, the eastern fruit moth, and the four-spotted grain beetle. These devices operate based on biologically active substances produced by insects for communication, allowing for the identification of infected areas with high precision using their own signals.

Pheromone monitoring is considered one of the most effective methods for identifying threats today. The use of such traps allows for quick access to complete information about the phytosanitary condition of fields and gardens, which can take only a few hours to three days. This enables farmers to respond promptly to the appearance of pests and protect their crops before the situation becomes critical.

One of the key advantages of this new system is its safety for the environment. Unlike the mass use of chemicals, pheromone traps act selectively, without contaminating the soil and water. The Ministry of Agriculture notes that the implementation of such technologies is an important step towards producing environmentally friendly products in Kyrgyzstan and contributes to strengthening the export potential of local agriculture.
