Sydykov: The economy of the Kyrgyz Republic has grown by over 11%, focusing on energy and business support

The Minister of Economy and Commerce, Bakyt Sydykov, shared the main initiatives and measures aimed at supporting the economy of Kyrgyzstan in an interview on Birinchi Radio on March 25.

He noted that the government is actively implementing several significant projects. In the energy sector, a key focus is the construction of the Kambar-Ata Hydroelectric Power Station. At the same time, support for small and medium-sized businesses is being provided through microgeneration projects and the launch of small energy facilities.

In the field of transport logistics, in addition to railway projects, the development of warehouse infrastructure is also planned. According to the minister, there are no restrictions on the implementation of these initiatives, and investors can freely promote them.

Sydykov emphasized that key investment projects have been identified for each direction, which serve as the foundation for further growth in these sectors.

Regarding economic indicators, the minister reported that last year, the real growth of the gross domestic product was 11.1%. The average growth rate of the economy over the past four years is about 10.2% per year, and this year the authorities intend to maintain this momentum.

The private sector plays an important role in the country's economy. According to preliminary data for 2025, the share of small and medium-sized businesses in GDP has increased to 51%, compared to 42% the previous year.

An additional support measure was the introduction of a financing program for small and medium-sized businesses in January, amounting to about 3.7 billion soms. Under this program, two state banks offer preferential loans in the national currency for up to five years at an interest rate of about 6% per annum.

In March, a national platform for the development of small and medium-sized businesses was also established, which brings together government agencies, banks, and international organizations. Its goal is to coordinate support and training programs, harmonize decisions between agencies, and develop financial instruments and digital interaction.

The minister emphasized that work in these areas will continue, with the main goal remaining the achievement of strategic objectives by 2030.
