Bird breeders explained the rise in egg prices, but still received a warning
The Antimonopoly Regulation Service reported that discussions took place with representatives of the Poultry Farmers Association, major retail chains such as "Umai Group," "Asia Retail," and "Borsok Invest," as well as with the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
According to market participants, the vaccination of birds leads to a decrease in their productivity for at least 30 days. Additionally, seasonal changes, increased logistics costs, packaging, and the presence of intermediaries in the country's markets also affect the price of eggs.
In light of the increased wholesale prices for eggs from poultry farmers, the Antimonopoly Regulation Service issued a warning to the Poultry Farmers Association regarding the inadmissibility of restricting competition. The organization was recommended to work with its members and intermediaries, review its pricing policy, and ensure transparency in price formation.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of March, a rise in prices for chicken eggs was recorded in the country, with a dozen in supermarkets costing 160-170 soms.
