On the air of the "Birinchi Radio" program, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan, Saidikram Niyazkhodjaev, shared the country's experience in reducing water losses.

According to him, over the past few years, more than 60 trillion sums have been allocated from the budget for the development of water-saving technologies, and 622 million dollars in foreign investments have been attracted.

In 2020, the use of modern technologies was observed on only 4% of irrigated lands; however, by 2026, it is planned to increase this figure to 60%.

Niyazkhodjaev emphasized that this will allow saving approximately 2.5 billion cubic meters of water each year.

Currently, Uzbekistan is modernizing water resource management: part of the water bodies has been transferred to private hands, automation of hydrological posts is being implemented, and digital monitoring is being introduced. A new water resource management program and irrigation sector development plan until 2028 has also been developed.

It is also planned to reduce water losses by installing concrete channels and reducing energy costs for pumping stations.
