Kyrgyz Farmers to Receive Seeds at a 30% Discount Due to Government Support, - Ministry of Agriculture
According to Mambetov, the government subsidizes 30% of the cost of seeds produced by seed-growing enterprises.
“For example, if the price of first reproduction seeds is 35 soms, then with the subsidy, the farmer will be able to purchase them for about 25–26 soms. The remaining amount is compensated by the government to the seed-growing enterprise,” Mambetov explained.
This initiative aims to support seed-growing enterprises and provide farmers with quality planting material at an affordable price.
Mambetov noted that farmers' interest in subsidized seeds is growing each year, and the sales volumes and number of users of this program are increasing.
He also emphasized that farmers are strongly advised to use certified seeds of the first or second reproduction, as this directly affects yield.
However, many farmers continue to use seeds obtained from their own harvest. In such cases, they are advised to test the planting material in laboratories.
“A farmer can send seeds for analysis to determine their germination, purity, and presence of diseases. This is an inexpensive procedure, and results are usually ready within a week,” he explained.
According to Mambetov, farmers are increasingly turning to laboratories for seed testing, which indicates an increase in their awareness and responsibility.
“We always remind farmers: what you sow is what you reap. Therefore, it is important to know the quality of the seeds used for planting,” he added.
