- During the session of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 4, 2026, deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the issue of the fate of the residents of the apartment building located at 16/1 Suerkulova Street in the capital.

He noted that two years ago, the residents were relocated, and they were promised new housing; however, no actions have been taken to provide apartments to them so far. The State Mortgage Program has also not been implemented.

“Why has this not been done yet?” — the deputy questioned and called on the government and the Bishkek city administration to provide complete information regarding this issue.

Background of the issue:

On March 1, 2024, an event took place near the building at 16/1 Suerkulova, involving police, emergency services, and the municipal technical unit. Earlier, the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, reported that the residents were required to vacate the building by the specified date.

According to data from the Bishkek branch of the Land Resources Service, the plot on which the building (intended for a business center and shopping center) is located, covering an area of 0.151 hectares, is in municipal ownership of the city of Bishkek.

The city administration reported that there are 24 premises on the first floor and parts of the second, third, and fourth floors of the building intended for commercial sale. Additionally, from the fifth to the ninth floors, 45 offices have been constructed.

“All 69 premises are occupied by residents, and the property is effectively being used as a residential building,” the city administration added.
