Ministry of Economy: The rise in fuel and electricity prices has intensified additional inflationary pressure in Kyrgyzstan in 2025
According to the ministry, over the year, fuel and lubricants have increased in price by 14.5%. At the same time, the cost of gasoline rose by 15.1%, while diesel fuel increased by 11.1%.
The reason for this price increase was the repairs being conducted at Russian oil refineries, which are the main suppliers of fuel for Kyrgyzstan. This led to a reduction in supply volumes and affected the market situation amid geopolitical instability and shortages. Additionally, prices were under pressure due to increased domestic demand for fuel, which is associated with economic growth and increased production.
There has also been a significant increase in utility costs: over the year, prices for housing services, water, electricity, gas, and other types of fuel rose by 14%. The highest increase was noted in the electricity sector — by 23.6%. This is related to the annual increase in tariffs as part of the medium-term tariff policy for 2025–2030. Gas prices increased by 6.8%.
Furthermore, there is a moderate increase in prices for clothing and footwear — by 3.4%: the cost of clothing rose by 3.5%, while footwear and repair services increased by 3.2%. Household items and appliances became more expensive by 4.8%. Overall, non-food goods increased in price by 7.8%.
