The rise in tariffs and prices for products continued in 2026. What has already become more expensive

According to the National Statistical Committee, in January 2026, consumer prices in Kyrgyzstan increased by 0.8% compared to December 2025. Over the year, the increase was 9.5%.

Since the beginning of the year, the following price increases have been observed:


Price Changes in January 2026


The largest price increase in January 2026 was observed for fresh vegetables — 4.9%.

Other price increases included: potatoes (by 3.4%), sausage and canned meat products (by 2.5%), dairy products (by 2.1%), cheese (by 2.1%), and eggs (by 2.1%).

Additionally, prices for bulk milk increased (by 2.6%), lamb (by 1.5%), beef (by 0.9%), and fish (by 0.5%).

At the same time, since the beginning of the year, there has been a decrease in prices for flour (by 0.5%) and rice (by 0.1%).

Price Changes by Region


In January 2026, all regions of Kyrgyzstan noted an increase in prices and tariffs, as reported by the National Statistical Committee.

The largest increase (1.3%) occurred in the Batken region, where prices for services to the population rose by 2.6%.

In Bishkek, the maximum increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages was 1.4%, while non-food goods in the Jalal-Abad region increased by 1.2%.

Overview of the Food Basket from 24.kg


24.kg continues to monitor prices for a minimum set of products. Over the past week, the cost of this set increased by 106 soms, reaching 7,338 soms.

In Bishkek, prices for tomatoes, peppers, apples, and vegetable oil increased, while cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, pears, and sugar became cheaper.

24.kg analyzes prices for the same set of products in the same store weekly. Prices may vary depending on the place of purchase, as supermarkets often have promotions.

According to the analysis, since monitoring began in late October 2018, the price of the food basket has increased by 4,068 soms. Since the beginning of 2026, it has increased by 615 soms, and compared to the same period in 2025, it has risen by 1,272 soms.

Wage Dynamics in Kyrgyzstan


According to the National Statistical Committee, at the end of 2025, the average nominal salary in enterprises and organizations of all types of economic activity increased by 18.9% compared to 2024.

Currently, it stands at 44,419 soms.

As of January 2025, the number of officially registered unemployed in Kyrgyzstan was 37,600 people, which is 24.6% less than in 2024.
