At a recent meeting of regional government administrators summarizing the results of 2025, First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the irrigation project funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

“You have been dragging out the completion of the project for five years, which is absolutely unacceptable,” he noted, emphasizing that the issue of irrigation is one of the most pressing.

Amangeldiev also added that the head of the Main Department of Water Management of the Chui Region, Erlan Omuraliyev, appeared too calm while reporting on the current situation: “I would have already cried, as we will face serious problems if we do not start addressing these issues in a timely manner. You are not even taking into account the weather and the events happening,” he said, questioning whether the irrigation channels have been cleared.

Additionally, he reported that, by the president's order, preferential loans at 6% per annum for the development of drip irrigation systems have been approved, which are provided by state banks.

The government also noted that this year the focus is on supporting small and medium-sized businesses.

Daniyar Amangeldiev criticized the lack of progress in utilizing idle facilities: according to him, the situation with 39 buildings that remain uncommissioned has not changed since 2024.
