Starting from March 1, 2026, a temporary ban on the import of seedlings of fruit and berry plants from countries that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union will come into effect. This decision was approved by the cabinet of ministers under the leadership of Adylbek Kasymaliev and will be in force for six months.

The purpose of this decree is to ensure food security and improve the functioning of the agricultural sector of the country.

The restriction applies to seedlings coming from third countries, except for those varieties listed in the annex to the decree.

It is important to note that this ban does not affect supplies from EAEU member states, provided they are delivered within the framework of mutual trade. Transit of seedlings through the territory of Kyrgyzstan to other countries is also permitted.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce is required to notify the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission about the introduction of these protective measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be tasked with informing the Executive Committee of the CIS. Additionally, the customs service and the Ministry of Agriculture must take measures to prevent any attempts at illegal importation of planting material.
