Pavel Pakhomov: The market is shifting from hype to sustainable sectors

At a recent press conference dedicated to current changes in the stock market of Kyrgyzstan, Pavel Pakhomov, director of the analytics department at ITS, noted that the development of securities trading infrastructure has become an important moment for local investors.
Pakhomov emphasized that previously the process of purchasing shares of international companies could take up to a day and required many complicated procedures. Now, with the push of a button, a transaction can be completed in just 120 milliseconds, allowing investors to instantly acquire shares of giants like Apple, Microsoft, or Coca-Cola.

Thanks to access to more than 3,000 stocks and exchange-traded funds, investors have numerous options to choose from. They can apply various strategies—from high-risk speculative instruments with high potential returns to more conservative solutions that provide 3-5% annual returns in dollars, he added.

Discussing global economic trends, the expert noted that 2025 has been a successful year for the global economy and stock markets, where most country indices showed positive dynamics. The ITS World and ITS Sharia funds demonstrated returns of 25-26%, which he believes represents a "golden mean" between profitability and stability.
Among the factors influencing market dynamics, Pakhomov highlighted the U.S. tariff policy, fluctuations in interest rates, and the growing interest in artificial intelligence. Technology companies in the so-called "magnificent seven" with a capitalization of over a trillion dollars have become the main drivers of growth in the American market.

However, in recent months, the situation has begun to change: investors have started to take profits in the technology sector and redirect funds into more stable industries.

Capital is now actively moving into sectors such as healthcare, consumer services, utilities, and telecommunications, where there is steady demand and predictable income.

At the same time, interest in artificial intelligence is gradually declining: despite large companies investing huge amounts in technology development, the expected profits do not always justify these costs, leading to a reevaluation of stocks.

Additionally, the precious metals market is also experiencing a cooling phase after a sharp rise in prices, and investors are increasingly turning to diversification and defensive assets.

The American market continues to be at historical highs: the Dow Jones index has surpassed 50,000 points for the first time, and the S&P 500 briefly rose above 7,000. However, the market is also undergoing a phase of reevaluation and searching for a new balance.

A wide range of instruments allows investors to form a portfolio based on their risk tolerance. Investors seeking high returns can choose volatile assets, while more conservative market participants prefer instruments with stable returns and dividends.

Moreover, there is a growing interest in Islamic financial instruments that comply with Sharia law, which are becoming an important part of the region's investment infrastructure.

The expansion of access to international capital markets opens up new quality opportunities for Kyrgyz investors, contributes to increased financial literacy, and fosters the formation of a modern investment culture," concluded Pakhomov.
