The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place in Bishkek, attended by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda.
Political Dialogue and the Border
Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that 2025 has become an important milestone in the development of relations between the two states. The successful completion of the border delimitation process has become a key aspect of stability. Both sides expressed confidence that the demarcation of the remaining sections will be completed in the near future.

Trade and Economic Initiatives
To increase trade volumes, the Kyrgyz side proposed several specific measures:
Transport and Logistics Solutions
The head of the Kyrgyz government expressed the country's readiness to become the 'trade gateway' for Tajik goods in the EAEU and European Union markets (through the GSP+ system).
The parties also discussed the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which will create new transit opportunities for the region.
A large-scale modernization of checkpoints and the implementation of digital technologies at the border are planned.
Tourism Development
The tourism sector has shown record growth. In 2025, Kyrgyzstan was visited by 86,000 tourists from Tajikistan, which is 12 times higher than the figures for 2024.
Work continues on the possibility of introducing a unified visa for Central Asian countries, which will attract more foreign tourists.

Cultural Cooperation
The Days of Tajik Culture will be held in Kyrgyzstan in May 2026, and a Tajik delegation has been invited to the VI World Nomad Games.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a protocol of the meeting and a memorandum of cooperation between the "Kyrgyz Export" center and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan were signed.
