- On February 11, 2026, during a plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Aysarkan Abdibaeva asked what steps the Ministry of Agriculture is taking to ensure irrigation water in conditions of water scarcity.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev stated that the ministry is monitoring the situation and determining water consumption limits for each region.

He also noted that the ministry's plans for the next five years include the implementation of a drip irrigation system over an area of 200,000 hectares.

“As long as we do not transition to drip irrigation, problems with providing irrigation water will persist. The introduction of new irrigation technologies is necessary,” he emphasized.

Additionally, the deputy reported that in 2025, farmers from Aksy and Kerben faced a shortage of irrigation water, which negatively affected their harvest.

She also suggested considering holding officials accountable for the losses incurred by farmers.

At this time, information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic was being discussed regarding preparations for spring fieldwork and agricultural activities in 2026.
