Strict phytosanitary control introduced for imported seedlings in Osh

New measures have been initiated in the Osh region to strengthen control over the import of seedlings. According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, the import verification process will now be carried out in two stages, which will help prevent the entry of pests into the country's agricultural sector.

The first stage of control takes place at the "Dostuk" checkpoint, located on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. Here, inspectors carefully check phytosanitary certificates, permits, and transport invoices.

At the second stage, conducted at the "Mega Logistic" customs point, a re-inspection is performed. Specialists here take samples for detailed analysis at the quarantine laboratory in Osh. Permission for the import of seedlings is granted only upon confirmation of negative results for harmful organisms. Additionally, all imported planting materials must undergo mandatory disinfection.

Farmers and entrepreneurs wishing to import seedlings into Osh must provide a complete set of documents, including a special permit from the Department of Agricultural Crop Expertise, a phytosanitary certificate from the exporting country, an invoice, and transport documents.

The Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that strict compliance with these requirements is a crucial condition for protecting Kyrgyzstan's agriculture from quarantine threats and ensuring environmental safety in the country.
