Agriculture in many countries around the world is considered a subsidized sector and falls within the social sphere. Mirbek Duyshiev, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, shared this information on February 11.
According to him, each country strives to support its agriculture in various ways, including providing preferential loans, tax breaks, and other incentives. "Even in developed countries in Europe, difficulties arise in this area, which is related to the peculiarities of agriculture that heavily depends on natural conditions," noted Duyshiev.
He also touched on the topic of bank loans for farmers. "I have been working in this field for two years, and at the moment, we do not have a practice of writing off loans. Over the past four to five years, we have conducted an analysis of banking activities in agriculture. The repayment of loans has significantly improved. Previously, only 30-40% were repaid, while 50-60% remained unpaid, but the situation has changed now. Today, more than 90% of issued loans are repaid," added the Deputy Minister.
