The launch of a new PPP project related to the collection of fees from freight and bus transport
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan has announced the start of a public-private partnership project aimed at implementing an electronic system for collecting fees from trucks and buses, as well as automated weight and dimensional control on public roads.
This initiative is aimed at attracting additional resources for the maintenance and development of road infrastructure, as well as protecting the condition of highways. As part of this project, 42 automated control points will be established across the country.
The automated systems will be capable of recognizing vehicle license plates, tracking their movement using navigation technologies, and recording instances of exceeding weight and size norms. Fines for violations will be automatically imposed on the owners.
The project is being implemented in a PPP format, where the private partner is responsible for financing, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the system. Upon the expiration of the contract, all created infrastructure will be transferred to state management.
Additionally, the Ministry of Transport invites both local and foreign companies with experience in information technology, intelligent transport systems, and infrastructure projects to participate in the competition.
