Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan and Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Jumabek Zhailov stated on the radio that there is a need to develop entrepreneurship in the regions of the country. In his opinion, Bishkek suffers from overpopulation and limited business opportunities.

Zhailov cited an example from one of the European countries, where the government offers financial support of about $1,000 for each new job created by relocating businesses from large cities to mountainous areas.

“Why don’t we use such practices? The government currently has funds, and their amount will only grow,” he noted.

The economist emphasized that the problem of overpopulation and traffic congestion will not be solved if the population is concentrated only in two cities, while the regions remain undeveloped.

He also suggested applying various mechanisms and borrowing international experience, including that of China. “To date, most trade operations are linked to China, from where money comes, railways are built, and logistics hubs are created. We should learn from China and evenly distribute resources among the regions, particularly paying attention to less developed ones, such as Talas and Naryn,” he added.

No less important is the technological aspect: investors should bring not only capital but also modern technologies. “We do not have large productions like Toyota or Hyundai, so we should develop medium-sized businesses and create technology companies, developing different types of products. First of all, for the domestic market, and the surplus should be exported with consideration for diversification,” said Zhailov.

In addition, he proposed to activate exports to Asian countries such as Japan and China, where their own technical and phytosanitary standards apply. According to the economist, the level of prosperity is rising in China, along with the demand for quality goods.

Kyrgyzstan should focus on producing organic and environmentally friendly products, both in the food sector and in the textile industry, as such products are highly valued and the country has all the capabilities for their production, he concluded.
