At a meeting of the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Zhyldyz Taalaibek kyzy reported on the request from residents of the Naryn region for the construction of a plant for leather processing.
She noted that a large part of the local population is engaged in livestock farming, and farmers face the problem of disposing of hides — they are either thrown away or burned.
The Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, emphasized the importance of creating treatment facilities when building the plant to minimize harm to people and the environment, as the processing process involves the use of chemicals.
“We hope that animal hides from the Naryn, Issyk-Kul, and Chui regions will be sent to the plant planned in the Issyk-Ata district. Additionally, another plant will be needed in the southern regions. Unfortunately, often the hides are of low quality due to improper removal or damage during slaughter, so educational programs for farmers are extremely necessary,” the minister added.
