In the Osh region, in the Nookat district, an initiative aimed at reviving tobacco cultivation has been launched. The Department of Agricultural Crop Expertise of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic organized a training seminar for local farmers, aimed at increasing the profitability of their farms.
At the seminar, a key moment was the presentation of seeds of popular varieties that can significantly impact the region's economy. Farmers were introduced to "Virginia" — a high-yield variety recognized internationally for its adaptability and quality, as well as "Dubeck 44-07," which is well-suited for areas with risky farming due to its resilience to adverse conditions.
Ministry specialists not only distributed seeds but also provided detailed technological maps for their cultivation. Farmers received step-by-step instructions covering all stages, from planting to methods that promote increased yields. The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that the main goal of such events is to abandon outdated methods and implement modern agronomic approaches, which will allow farmers in southern regions to improve the quality of their products on the international stage.
As a result of the seminar, participants were able to receive useful recommendations and ask questions about the new varieties. The relevant ministry emphasizes that training farmers in the Nookat district is just the first step in a long-term strategy to develop the agricultural potential of the region and enhance the agronomic literacy of local producers.
