The Ministry of Transport and Communications presented a report on its activities over the past year and shared plans for the current year. Unfortunately, improvements for drivers are not expected in the near future, as eight new road sections will be added to the already initiated projects.

Achievements of 2025

In 2025, as a result of construction and repair work, 1,606 km of highways were updated, of which 1,545 km were paved. Additionally, 11 new bridges were built in the country this year.

The Ministry announced the start of construction of the national significance highway Barskoon - Bedel. This large-scale project is being implemented using the country’s internal resources. To improve alternative routes around Bishkek and reduce road congestion, the project for a six-lane Northern Bypass Road of Bishkek is actively being promoted, where two-level interchanges with temporarily open passage have already been constructed.

Among the investment projects are also the construction of the highways Suusamyr - Talas - Taraz, Korumdu - Balbay-Baatyr, Barskoon - Karakol, and a 748-meter tunnel on the Bishkek - Osh highway.

Financial Results of the Ministry of Transport

Last year, revenues from the issuance of licenses, permits, special permits for the transportation of indivisible cargo, as well as the imposition of administrative fines amounted to 1 billion 167.3 million soms, which is three times more than in 2024.

In 2025, 222,020 permits were issued from 41 countries. The implementation of the digital E-permit system for exchanging permits for international freight transport between Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and China has been a significant step forward.

The Ministry also noted that the process is now carried out electronically, simplifying the work of Kyrgyz transporters and allowing for cost savings. An electronic issuance system for special permits has been introduced, enabling both domestic and foreign carriers to submit applications via mobile devices and receive them within one to three hours.
