The National Bank and the government have been called upon by Guley Kozhokulova to address the issue of high commissions that banks charge for transactions for entrepreneurs.

Previously, businessmen expressed dissatisfaction that some financial institutions retain up to 1.7% of the amount of interbank transfers.

“Recently, entrepreneurs appealed to the media with a request to stop financial dictatorship; you have probably heard about this. The issue concerns commissions and interest rates on transfers. The National Bank has not yet provided an official response to this problem. I would like to know how the National Bank, as the main supervisory authority, is addressing this issue? Commercial banks charge too much for servicing, and to this day, the rights of our business community are seriously violated. Can we not discuss the possibility of reducing these rates or even eliminating them altogether?” — stated the deputy.

Medet Tairov, the deputy chairman of the National Bank, responded, indicating that the issue is being discussed at the level of the Ministry of Economy and the tax service.

“We receive numerous inquiries regarding transfers. It is important to clarify that this concerns businesses, as transfers for individuals are free. Discussions are ongoing, as banks are also business entities. As for the amounts of transfers, they are also subject to discussion. Transfers through clearing or gross systems do not exceed 1-2%,” — noted Tairov.

Kozhokulova emphasized that businesses make significant transfers, and therefore the commissions become quite noticeable.

“You noted that commercial banks are businesses, and that is true. But I have not heard of commercial banks operating at a loss. They always strive to increase their profits,” — added the deputy.
