On February 4, the Chief of Staff of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Kanibek Tumanbaev, met with the business owners of the Osh market, where he discussed in detail the upcoming relocation and the future of the vacated territory. According to him, a modern park is planned to be created on the site of one of the largest bazaars in the capital, and a new medical facility will be built on the territory of the "Kiyal" market.
According to the plans, the main phase of relocating the trading areas is set to begin in the summer of 2026; however, the opening of the new complex, located at the intersection of Fuchik Street and the Bypass Road, is expected in the spring. Tumanbaev assured the traders that the old market will continue to operate as usual until the work at the new site is fully completed. The authorities intend to make the transition as comfortable as possible to avoid social tension.
Tumanbaev also noted that the conditions at the new location will be significantly better than at the current one. All entrepreneurs will receive equal trading spaces, with priority given to those already working at the Osh market, while available plots will be offered to other interested parties later.
The issue of transportation accessibility has also been addressed: to improve connectivity with the new trading hub, the city authorities have purchased 180 new buses. Tumanbaev assured that sellers and buyers will not face problems accessing the market. It is expected that as a result of the reform, modern trading conditions will be created, as well as a new green zone in the city center.
