At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Altynbek Kylchayev proposed the creation of a solar panel manufacturing plant in Kyrgyzstan.

He emphasized that investments are currently being attracted for the installation of solar panels throughout the country.

“To produce solar panels, the main raw material needed is quartzite. Our country has quartz reserves amounting to 340,000 tons. Many regions express a desire to install solar panels. The estimated cost of establishing production is around $1 billion. Additionally, we can establish the production of other goods as well. This will create jobs for 6,000 people,” noted the parliamentarian.

Furthermore, he added that the Ministry of Energy should discuss this issue with other government agencies.

Currently, deputies are considering amendments to the law "On Renewable Energy Sources." According to the proposed bill, companies operating in the field of renewable energy sources (RES) will be required to allocate 1% of the revenue generated from the sale of electricity to local budgets. Additionally, investors will need to install energy storage systems that will account for at least 30% of the installed capacity of the facility.
