A tariff exemption on the import of raw materials for sugar production has been granted to Kyrgyzstan.
The decision to provide the exemption was made at a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council held in Moscow. Now, Kyrgyzstan will be able to import 20,000 tons of raw cane sugar without paying import duties until the end of 2026. This decision is aimed at supporting processing enterprises and stabilizing sugar prices in the domestic market.
In addition, the EEC Council approved a draft protocol to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, which proposes the implementation of a financial support mechanism for intergovernmental cooperative programs in the agro-industrial complex, financed from the budget of the union.
The agency noted that this tool was previously used only for industrial cooperation, but it is now planned to be extended to agricultural projects as well.
