The Development Bank of the Republic is financing the construction of a hydropower plant in Naryn.
On January 26, the Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic signed an agreement regarding the financing of the construction of the "Kulanak" hydroelectric power station, which will be located in the Naryn region.
According to the bank's information, the HPP will be situated in the village of Kulanak, on the Naryn River, and its installed capacity will be 100 MW. It is expected that the annual electricity generation will reach 435 million kWh, which will help reduce the country's energy deficit by 11%.
The implementation of the project will ensure:
Strengthening Kyrgyzstan's position in the electricity market in the region;
Reducing the dependence of the energy sector and the economy of the country on fluctuations in fuel prices;
Increasing revenues for local and national budgets;
Creating up to 100 new permanent jobs in the region;
Expanding the area of irrigated land in the Kulanak valley.
