The EEC Council sent the draft Agreement on Electronic Trade to the EAEU countries for preparation for signing.
Now the document will be sent to the member states for the necessary internal procedures that precede signing. The main objective of this agreement is to create unified rules for electronic trade in the internal market of the EAEU.
“The primary goal of this extensive work is to minimize the risks of various barriers to the free movement of goods in the field of electronic trade,” noted Andrei Slepnev, Minister of Trade of the EEC.
He also added that for businesses, this means creating a unified, predictable, and transparent regulatory environment within the Union, implementing electronic document management, as well as reducing administrative burdens and financial costs.
Furthermore, as emphasized by the EEC Minister, for consumers, this will mean the existence of unified standards for the protection of their rights, which will not be inferior to those in traditional trade, as well as guarantees of information security, personal data protection, and spam limitations.
