The work on updating the water infrastructure in the Issyk-Ata district is in its final stages. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bakyt Torobaev, visited the site to assess the current state and progress of the repair activities. According to the press service, the modernization of the infrastructure will ensure increased crop yields and sustainable development of the agricultural sector in the region.

The Minister paid special attention to the Eastern Big Chui Canal, which has been in operation since 1957. With a total length of 97 kilometers, it irrigates an impressive 41,500 hectares of land. Concurrently, the channel R-24, located in the rural municipality of Jaiylma, continues to undergo concrete lining to reduce water losses: in 2025, 1,480 meters of the canal were updated, and for 2026, the lining of another 1,280 meters is planned, which will ensure water supply for 1,100 hectares of agricultural land.

Additionally, Bakyt Torobaev inspected the Tuzovskyi reservoir, which was built in 1987 for water resource management. After a major renovation, its capacity was increased to 1.8 million m³. From this reservoir, water is additionally supplied to the fields of the Jaiylmin rural area, as well as to the villages of Tuz, the city of Kant, and the village of Luxembourg, covering more than 2,400 hectares of irrigated land. The development of these hydraulic structures is aimed at supporting local farmers and strengthening the export potential of domestic agricultural products.
