Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, has announced its new satellite network called TeraWave. This became known through an official statement on the company's website.

As part of this initiative, the launch of 5,408 satellites is planned, which will be placed in low and medium Earth orbit. The first launches are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027.

TeraWave will primarily target the corporate sector, data centers, and government institutions. The network's bandwidth is promised to reach 6 Tbps.

According to media reports, this project will compete with Starlink, which currently has over 9,000 satellites and provides services to about 9 million users worldwide.

Company representatives note that the architecture of TeraWave will be based on a multi-orbit system using both Q/V-band radio frequencies and optical communication links between satellites. This configuration will ensure a high degree of fault tolerance, scalability, and access to significantly high data transmission speeds, which is especially relevant for regions where laying fiber-optic infrastructure is challenging or financially unfeasible.
