In Kyrgyzstan, the launch of coal-fired thermal power plants (TPPs) with a total capacity of 1050 megawatts is planned. This information was announced during a meeting between Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev and representatives of the consortium GPRC, NRP, and KCG — Konstantin Panovko and Alexander Ong.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the minister suggested exploring the possibility of constructing TPPs based on the country's coal deposits.
The consortium representatives expressed their readiness to develop, finance, and construct three thermal power stations.
Each TPP will have a capacity of 350 megawatts, which will ultimately provide a total installed capacity of the project of 1050 megawatts. The investors plan to implement clean coal technologies that meet international environmental protection standards.

The partners noted that they have the necessary experience in creating such facilities. The application of modern technologies will ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity production. In the near future, specialists will begin to study the characteristics of local coal, including its calorific value, ash content, moisture, sulfur and phosphorus content, as well as the level of volatile substances.

The energy minister urged the partners to start the research and assured that the ministry would provide full support for the successful implementation of the project.
