Kundus Kyrbashova, head of the energy committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, shared her opinion during a broadcast on "Birinchi Radio" about the reasons for the significant increase in demand for electricity in Kyrgyzstan. According to her, over the past ten years, consumption has increased three to four times.

She noted that a similar trend is observed in other countries. In neighboring states, facing electricity shortages, authorities are initiating resource-saving campaigns and urging the population to use electricity sparingly.

The main factors driving consumption growth are the increase in population and, consequently, the rise in demand for resources. "Previously, 10-20 years ago, there were small refrigerators in homes, and there were almost no air conditioners or electronics. Therefore, electricity consumption was significantly lower. Now it has increased three to four times, and this is related to the increase in the number of enterprises, mini-workshops, and new residential buildings," Kyrbashova explained.

In her opinion, it is necessary to actively implement energy-saving practices, use energy-efficient devices and household appliances of at least class A, and replace regular bulbs with energy-saving ones.

"Our parents always taught us to save. Now it is time to apply this rule and use electricity wisely," she concluded.

According to government information, electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan is expected to reach 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours by 2025, which is 900 million kilowatt-hours higher than the level in 2024.
